Gazspacho for the Scatological Soul
by Steve Murphy - 2/24/2007
One day about 4 years ago, I wrote a story reflecting on the passing of a friend, with a twist. It was a story about
love, loss, remembrance, clairvoyance, pride, and embarrassment. I called it "The Messenger". Several friends told me, had it
not been for the content, it would make a great candidate for Readers Digest.
Our friend Suzie Tee told me I should write a series of similar stories and put them all together in a book called
"Chicken Soup for the Scatological Soul". I thought it was a great idea, but I worried about trademark infringement
and litigation, and I just didn't want to take that chance. I thought about using Chili or Jambalaya, but they were
too obvious and predictable, so I settled on Gazspacho. And I like the irony added by the fact that it's served cold.
